I never thought that I would be teaching! My journey started in 2010, when I started practicing yoga. A whole new way of thinking and moving, opened up for me, and now I am able to share yoga and all it’s benefits, with my students. They teach me more than I could ever teach them!
I completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2011. I knew that my training was not complete, so I continued on to take the 500 hour training, graduating in 2012.
I had been teaching a few classes and had many different physical and mental/emotional issues walking into these classes. I was lucky enough to find another training at Duke University in North Carolina. After an intensive 8 day training in March of 2014, I was certified in “Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors. ” (I try to go to the conference for graduates of this training, at Duke, every September.) I now feel confident that my classes can meet all of my students’ needs, and most importantly, that they will be safe.
Well, almost all…I enrolled in another training in March 2015, in Oakland, Ca. “Teaching Yoga to People With Disabilities,” which gave me the tools I need to work with people who have MS, CP, Parkinson’s or those who use a wheelchair.
Workshops and trainings continue for me. I have added Accessible Yoga, Yoga for Large bodies, Back Care, Experiential Anatomy, Trauma Sensitive Yoga and studies in philosophy and meditation.
